The box is designed for the German MG3 and Heckler&Koch MG5 machine guns, which is attached to the machine gun by a mechanism that provides for the attachment of a standard plastic, NATO, disposable box that serves as a container through which the tape will be delivered. This solution of NATO designers is quite successful, but unfortunately, not all our fighters have access to such boxes, while this box is reusable.

Purpose:

The box is designed for the German MG3 and Heckler&Koch MG5 machine guns, which is attached to the machine gun by a mechanism that provides for the attachment of a standard plastic, NATO, disposable box that serves as a container through which the tape will be delivered. This solution of NATO designers is quite successful, but unfortunately, not all our fighters have access to such boxes, while this box is reusable.

Advantages:

  • Due to the fact that the box is made of metal, it can be reused and has all the other advantages of metal boxes.
  • The product has the shape of a polyhedron offset towards the machine gun axis, which allows the center of gravity to be shifted closer to the firing line. This eliminates the disadvantage of all machine guns with a side-mounted box, namely, a decrease in accuracy due to significant lateral recoil caused by a shift in the overall center of gravity when using boxes with a large BC. This solution has been previously tested at the test sites and proved to be a good fit for our M240 box.
  • The box has a carefully designed internal shape, which has become a standard for the manufacturer and is being implemented in boxes for other machine guns. The tape feed from this box is very stable and, if the tape is laid correctly, almost eliminates the occurrence of a “wedge”
  • This box is a fairly new development, and although it has already received positive feedback, we continue to collect feedback on it and already have several ideas for implementing wishes and changing the capacity, for example. There are already developments both to increase it (to unify it with the standard 120-round belt for these machine guns) and to decrease it (taking into account some features of the H&K machine gun)
  • Several design innovations were introduced during the creation of this box, which are already planned to be implemented in the rest of the boxes.
